The JSS College Library and Information Centre was Established in the year 01-08-1983 and started functioning in the present city i.e. Kollegal, Later it has been shifted to the own campus in the year 1995.The Library and Information Centre got its own separate department in the magnificent block since 2005 with adequate area of 3419.46Sq.ft. The Library and Information Centre started functioning from 2006 with the same area. The building accommodates sections such as Stacks, Reference, Circulation, Periodicals, Technical Section, Digital Library, Learning Resource Centre, Librarian Chamber, Photo Copying Section, AV Aids Section and Office
The Library and Information Centre has a collection of 12,829 Volumes in the year 2007-08 with 452 users and 55 staff members. At present, the Library has its stock about 17,823 Volumes of books and 72 current periodicals at national and state level as print copies to cover a wide range of subjects to facilitate users to access current academic and learning Literature. Presently the library has 1+2 library staff members serving 1224 members in addition, the academic community of other institutions and general public has been using the library resources.See more.
The library has organizes “The User Education / Orientation Programmes” to the students & Staff in beginning & between of every academic year.
The Library & Information Centre presently Mr.Srinivasa is heading the department.
The reference section contains general reference like Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Year Books, Directories, Gazetteers, Atlases, Maps, Handbooks, and Books on Competition, Entrance exams, Career development and personality development. It maintains 58 subscribed periodicals and others periodicals are getting to the library to fulfill the current teaching and learning information can be accessed through these resources. It maintains 16 subscribed newspapers out of which10 are national and 6 are Regional, the current information can be accessed by these newspapers. A special collection of around more than 1600 books and other documents is organized and the access made to the users. Faculty and students are eligible to become member to the Library
Each member is issued with a photo Identity cum Library Membership Ticket and books are issued for 15 days for students and 30 days for faculty. The number of borrowing books by members may vary from category to category.
A collection of recent textbooks is available for circulation to the SC/ST or economical backward students to meet their examination needs. The books will be issued after payment of double the amount of the book cost, based on the recommendation of the HOD for a semester. Students who fail to clear their examination even after two attempts are not eligible for book bank scheme.
